Nuevo León investigators link killing of two former officers to gang clash
Two former police officers were killed in Monterrey on October 15, on Gómez Morín Avenue.
Nuevo León prosecutor Javier Flores Saldívar said investigators found the suspected getaway vehicle in Santa Catarina the next day.
The gray Chirey Tiggo had no plates, was reported stolen and had several bullet impacts.
Investigators also found a handgun cartridge in the Volkswagen Vento carrying the victims, suggesting they may have fired back.
The evidence points to a clash between rival organized crime groups, rather than a one-sided attack, according to the prosecutor.
Authorities are still working to identify those responsible.
