Michigan adds Alex Bauman and Jeremiah Earby through transfer portal

Michigan has added tight end Alex Bauman and cornerback Jeremiah Earby through the transfer portal.

Bauman previously played for Miami, while Earby played for Boise State, and both have enrolled at Michigan.

Temporary restraining orders gave both players an extra season of eligibility, allowing them to return to college football.

Bauman had 18 catches, 166 yards and a touchdown for Miami last season, while Earby recorded 60 tackles and four interceptions for Boise State.

Michigan’s passing offense ranks last in the Big Ten, and its tight ends have contributed little as receivers, so Bauman could help address that weakness.

Earby is expected to add depth to a strong pass defense, though the roles for both players are not yet clear; Michigan’s next game is against Penn State.
