Storm Adam floods El Palo and closes a road in Málaga

Storm Adam brought torrential rain to Málaga overnight, with the eastern district of El Palo among the hardest-hit areas.

Rainfall there reached up to 120 litres per square metre in an hour, and water flooded shops, homes, basements and garages.

Emergency services handled 73 incidents across Málaga province, with no injuries reported in the area.

The rain also left people trapped in a flooded tunnel near Peñón del Cuervo, but firefighters helped them out safely.

Landslides closed the Los Montes road in both directions between kilometres 1 and 25.

The weather agency issued a red rain warning in Axarquía until 3 a.m., while emergency services responded to flooding and other problems across the region.
