Chinese legal workers describe efforts to strengthen rule of law

At a meeting in Beijing, representatives from China’s justice system described their work to support the country’s rule of law and public safety.

In Linyi, Shandong, official Zhao Dong helped build oversight across city, county and township levels and led five years of campaigns addressing problems in law enforcement.

In Henan, drug-rehabilitation officer Wang Miaoli said her work combines strict enforcement with support for people in treatment, including protecting their right to communicate with family.

In rural Hubei, legal worker Lei Hongbing has handled more than 4,000 disputes and answered more than 50,000 legal questions over 39 years.

Notary worker Shu Xin described using legal records and procedures to prevent disputes, while lawyer Liu Xiangwen said he has handled nearly 1,000 overseas litigation and arbitration cases for Chinese companies.

Their work shows how legal protections reach people and businesses through local services and cross-border advice.

The representatives said they would continue these efforts, including expanding rural legal services and supporting Chinese businesses abroad.
