Türkiye’s fiber network grows 12.9% to 720,012 kilometers
Türkiye’s fiber-optic network reached 720,012 kilometers in the second quarter of 2026, up 12.9% from a year earlier.
Telecommunications operators added 82,000 kilometers of infrastructure over the year, and 206 operators were authorized to build and operate networks as of June.
The expansion is part of efforts to encourage competition in the country’s communications sector.
At the same time, DSL’s share of fixed broadband fell to 37.8% from 46.4%, while cable internet held steady at 7.1%.
The figures also show that 5G service reached all 81 provinces on April 1, 2026, after licensing procedures were completed the previous year.
By June, Türkiye had nearly 44.3 million active 5G users and 79.7 million mobile broadband subscriptions.
Total broadband subscriptions rose to 100.8 million, though broadband penetration remained below the OECD average cited for June 2024.
