Four-day Yoga Dasara begins in Mysuru
Yoga Dasara opened at J.K. Grounds in Mysuru on Wednesday for a four-day programme themed “Yoga for a healthy tomorrow.”
The event brings together yoga trainers, practitioners, enthusiasts and officials.
Experts said yoga may help address health risks linked to unhealthy lifestyles, but it should complement medical treatment, not replace it.
One speaker said yoga should be practised regularly and tailored to each person, rather than limited to basic poses and breathing exercises.
A state-level competition is scheduled for October 16, with 1,650 people registered across 23 categories for different age groups.
Separately, a 90-day yoga training pilot is under way in 45 village councils in Nanjangud taluk, where participants are due to join a Rural Yoga Dasara on October 18.
Feedback will guide whether the rural programme expands to the rest of Mysuru district.
