DC Teases a Major Change to Green Lantern Lore

DC is hinting at a major change to Green Lantern lore in its Green Lantern Corps comics.

Issue #23’s solicitation says the Emotional Spectrum may draw its power from the “last child of Maltus,” a comatose child entity.

The spectrum powers the Lanterns’ rings and their abilities, including green for willpower and yellow for fear.

If the hint is accurate, the Guardians of the Universe may have used the child’s dormant power to sustain the Green Lantern Corps.

That would recast the Guardians’ role and raise questions about the cost of the Corps’ actions across the galaxy.

Issue #24, scheduled for January 13, 2027, will conclude the “First Light” story arc.

Its solicitation suggests the Lanterns will confront the lives lost and damage caused by their past battles, but the outcome has not been revealed.
