Hackers Show iPhone Jailbreak Persisting After an iOS Update
The Calif hacking team showed a jailbreak on an iPhone 18 Pro with Lockdown Mode enabled.
The video shows the phone updating to iOS 27.2 while the jailbreak remains in place.
The demonstration raises questions about Lockdown Mode’s protection, which Apple says is designed for people at risk of sophisticated spyware.
Lockdown Mode restricts features such as message attachments, web technologies and calls from unfamiliar FaceTime callers.
The video shows a malicious PDF sent by AirDrop, which the phone’s user accepts, but the exact jailbreak method is unknown.
It is also unclear whether the jailbreak can be installed on a phone already running iOS 27.2.
Calif has said it is disclosing vulnerabilities to Apple and does not plan to release a jailbreak tool for the public.
