Turkey’s September exports rose 15.3% to a record for the month

Turkey’s exports rose 15.3% in September from the same month a year earlier, reaching $25.97 billion.

Trade Minister Ömer Bolat said this was the country’s highest September total and its second-highest monthly export figure on record.

Exports reached a nine-month record of $210.95 billion, up 5.2% from the same period last year.

The figures cover Turkey’s trade in goods, while the minister also gave separate totals for imports and the trade gap.

September’s trade deficit fell 25.8% to $5.16 billion, as exports grew faster than imports.

Bolat said annualized exports had exceeded the government’s target for the year, and forecast a current-account surplus of more than $2 billion for September.

Turkey aims to exceed $410 billion in goods and services exports by year-end, while supporting higher-value and technology-intensive products.
