Lolita Chammah recalls the death of her son, 12 days after his birth
French actor Lolita Chammah has spoken about the loss of her son, Kolia, in a podcast released in October 2026.
She gave birth to him in November 2022, at about five and a half months of pregnancy.
Kolia died 12 days after he was born, despite receiving care at Port-Royal hospital in Paris.
Doctors had told Chammah that his brain was severely damaged, and he was receiving palliative care.
Chammah held her son as he died, while her mother, actor Isabelle Huppert, and hospital staff were with them.
Chammah said her partner left the room because he could not bear to stay, and that she initially felt anger before coming to understand his response.
She has also written about the experience in a book published in May 2024.
