Saudi stocks rise for a second session but close below 10,000

Saudi Arabia’s TASI index rose for a second session, gaining 2.3% to close at 9,986 points.

The rebound followed eight straight weeks of declines and brought the index’s two-session gain to 5.8%.

Trading value climbed 38% to 7.16 billion riyals, its highest level in about two months.

The index briefly reached 10,062 points but fell back after meeting resistance near 10,060, and it finished below the 10,000 mark.

The market rose despite regional security tensions, including Houthi attacks that Saudi air defences said they intercepted.

Lower yields on Saudi government debt and short-term borrowing rates may have helped support share prices, though the rebound does not remove geopolitical risks.

Third-quarter company results and the US Federal Reserve’s decision are among the next factors investors will watch.
