Celtics convert Devin Carter to a two-way contract

The Boston Celtics are converting Devin Carter’s camp contract to a two-way deal.

Carter, 24, was the 13th pick in the 2024 NBA draft but missed much of his rookie year while recovering from shoulder surgery.

He played for Sacramento and averaged 6.4 points in 74 games over two seasons, then was traded to Atlanta and waived.

Carter impressed in his Celtics debut against Cleveland on October 8, scoring 17 points with five rebounds and three assists in 25 minutes.

A two-way deal lets him play in up to 50 regular-season games and will pay him $678,882.

Boston had an open two-way roster spot, so it does not need to make another move to sign him.

The contract gives Carter a chance to earn playing time with the Celtics this season.
