Feijóo fills Madrid election list with senior PP allies
Alberto Núñez Feijóo will lead the People’s Party list in Madrid for Spain’s November 29 general election.
The list puts several of his close allies in prominent positions, including Jaime de los Santos at number five and Alberto Nadal at number nine.
Feijóo’s chief of staff, Marta Varela, is number six, while party image chief Mar Sánchez is number eight.
Madrid regional official Carlos Novillo is number seven and will leave Isabel Díaz Ayuso’s government to run for Congress.
The list also includes three mayors from the Madrid region and other current and former party officials.
The PP won 16 Madrid seats in the 2023 election, so the top 16 places are considered likely to secure seats, though the result could change that.
The candidate list reflects the party’s effort to bring together national party leaders and local figures ahead of the vote.

Feijóo will lead the list, with Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo at number two, Borja Sémper at three and Alma Ezcurra at four.

The list also includes regional and local officials, including Madrid emergency services councillor Carlos Novillo at number seven.
