Saudi Arabia and Jordan amend protocol for joint coordination council

Saudi Arabia and Jordan signed an amended protocol for their joint coordination council in Riyadh.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi signed it.

The council will be chaired by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and King Abdullah II of Jordan.

It is intended to strengthen cooperation between the two countries across different sectors, building on earlier agreements and memorandums of understanding.

The foreign ministers will lead its general secretariat, while the two foreign ministries will oversee its work and meetings.

Their discussions also covered regional tensions, Jordan's support for Saudi Arabia against Houthi attacks, and maritime security and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab.
