Saudi Arabia says it intercepted two ballistic missiles near Khamis Mushait

Saudi Arabia’s Arab Coalition said it intercepted two ballistic missiles aimed at Khamis Mushait, a city in the country’s south.

Coalition spokesperson Turki al-Maliki said the defenses detected and disabled the missiles over the city.

Saudi Civil Defense had issued a danger alert for Khamis Mushait shortly beforehand.

The coalition blamed Yemen’s Houthi group for the launch.

Yemen has been in civil war since the Houthis took control of the capital, Sanaa, and other areas in September 2014.

The Saudi-led Arab Coalition has supported Yemen’s internationally recognized government since March 2015.

The account says Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia have involved ballistic missiles and drones, but gives no details of any next steps.
