Jaume Munar withdraws from Brussels event with back problem

Jaume Munar withdrew from the Brussels tennis event because of a back problem.

The Spanish player had beaten Italy’s Federico Cina in the first round and was due to face France’s Arthur Fils next.

The injury could affect Spain’s Davis Cup selection, as Munar is one of three players being considered for the team’s fifth place.

The other candidates named are Alejandro Davidovich and Dani Mérida.

Spain is scheduled to face Austria in a Davis Cup quarter-final on November 26 in Bologna.

The seriousness of Munar’s back problem is not yet known, so his chances of being selected remain unclear.

Spain will name its final player after the Paris Masters, which runs from November 2 to 8.
