Judge dismisses Ann Altman’s abuse lawsuit against Sam Altman

A US judge dismissed Ann Altman’s lawsuit against her brother, OpenAI chief executive Sam Altman.

She had accused him of sexually abusing her during her childhood, from 1997 to 2006; Sam Altman denied the allegations.

The judge cited missed legal obligations, including Ann Altman’s failure to attend an independent medical examination on three occasions.

The case was filed in January 2025 in federal court in Missouri.

The dismissal with prejudice means it cannot be refiled in that court, but the order was based on procedural failures, not a finding about whether the allegations were true.

The judge denied Sam Altman’s request for legal fees and costs, and no further steps in the case were stated.

Because Annie has continued to violate her discovery obligations and forced this case to a halt through her intransigence, the Court has run out of options and, thus, dismisses her claims with prejudice
