First Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei rail-road freight service to Central Asia departs

A new rail-and-road freight service left Shijiazhuang in China’s Hebei province on October 13, carrying 110 containers.

It is the first service in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region to use a single contract covering the full logistics journey.

The train will travel to Kashgar in Xinjiang, where the cargo will transfer to trucks for Central Asia, including Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan and Dushanbe in Tajikistan.

The cargo includes car parts and machinery, and the route is intended to give exporters in the region another way to reach Central Asian markets.

Operators say the rail-road connection can cut transport and customs time by more than 30% compared with traditional arrangements.

A separate rail-and-road service from Shijiazhuang to Tacheng in Xinjiang also runs, creating complementary routes through southern and northern Xinjiang.
