India seeks stronger batting after top-order collapse against Zimbabwe

India will face Zimbabwe in the second women’s T20I in Raipur on Sunday.

In the series opener, India fell to 19 for four before Niki Prasad and Deepti Sharma put on 82 runs to help secure a four-wicket win.

The early collapse came as India’s top four all scored single digits.

Zimbabwe off-spinner Nyasha Gwanzura took three wickets in the powerplay, exposing India’s vulnerability against spin.

India captain Smriti Mandhana, who began leading the team this series, will be looking for a steadier batting display.

Deepti Sharma said India still intends to play aggressively and expects the team to learn from the first match.

Zimbabwe will hope Gwanzura can build on her performance as the teams meet again in the second match.
