Supercars drops plan to expand Enduro Cup
Supercars is expected to keep two Enduro Cup events in its 14-round 2027 calendar, dropping a plan to add another.
The expansion would have brought back a 500-kilometre, two-driver Sandown race, but teams reportedly opposed the added cost of hiring co-drivers for three events.
Sandown will instead decide the Sprint Cup in late August, likely using Supercars’ Super440 format.
Phillip Island returns to the calendar with backing from the Victorian Government, taking a finals-series spot previously held by Sandown.
Queensland Raceway will miss out on a round despite strong attendance.
The full calendar is due to be released Thursday, ahead of this weekend’s Sandown event, which features two 250-kilometre races with one driver in each.
Supercars has dropped a plan to expand the Enduro Cup, keeping two endurance events in the expected 2027 calendar.
RACE had proposed restoring Sandown to its traditional 500km, two-driver format.
The expected 14-round calendar will include nine Sprint Cup rounds and a three-round Finals Series.
Sandown is set to host a Sprint Cup round in late August, while Phillip Island returns to the calendar.
The calendar follows approval of a revised Teams Racing Charter, with teams divided between two payment structures.
