Axia’s adjusted profit nearly doubled in the first nine months of 2026
Axia Energia, formerly Eletrobras, nearly doubled its adjusted profit to R$7.071 billion in the first nine months of 2026 compared with the same period a year earlier.
The Brazilian power company’s third-quarter adjusted profit fell 19% to R$1.759 billion from a year earlier.
Heavy rain boosted hydropower generation at Axia’s plants, but abundant water across Brazil also pushed down prices in the short-term electricity market.
More water helped Axia produce more electricity and improved its hydropower supply indicator, while lower market prices reduced the margin on some sales.
Higher prices in the free market helped lift generation margins, as energy from some plants was gradually released from regulated sales into a market where large customers negotiate directly with generators.
Transmission margins also increased, supported by higher regulated revenue for making power lines and substations available.
The figures show that stronger results over nine months came alongside a weaker third quarter, but no further company outlook is stated.
Axia Energia’s adjusted net profit rose 98.3% in the first nine months of 2026 to R$7.071 billion.
The company reported adjusted net profit of R$1.759 billion in the third quarter, down 19% from a year earlier.
Adjusted regulatory EBITDA increased 8.4% year on year to about R$6.915 billion in the quarter.
Heavy rainfall boosted hydroelectric generation but also drove down short-term electricity prices.
Axia’s net generation rose 13.5% to 27.8 terawatt-hours in the quarter.
