Houthi media says Saudi strikes killed 11 in Sanaa

Houthi media says Saudi airstrikes killed 11 people in Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, and the surrounding area on Saturday.

The group’s Al-Masirah outlet said strikes hit a house and a residence for cement factory workers; it reported that women and a child were among those killed.

Saudi-led forces said they intercepted two Houthi missiles aimed at Taif and Yanbu in western Saudi Arabia.

The claims came amid renewed fighting in Yemen’s civil war between the Houthis and the government backed by Saudi Arabia.

The conflict had been quiet under a ceasefire reached in 2022, but fighting resumed in July as the wider Middle East war intensified.

The attacks add to regional tensions and threats to Saudi cities and infrastructure, including Yanbu, a major oil export hub; the reports do not say what will happen next.
