Motorcyclist, 20, dies in crash with van in Hemau

A 20-year-old motorcyclist died in a crash with a van on a road in Hemau, in Bavaria's Regensburg district, on Tuesday morning.

Police say he was heading towards Kollersried and overtaking several vehicles despite a solid line marking the road.

At the same time, a 37-year-old van driver turned left onto the road from Kasernenstraße and may not have seen the motorcyclist.

The motorcycle hit the van head-on, and the rider died at the scene.

The van driver was slightly injured, while his 14-year-old passenger suffered shock and received medical care.

A specialist is investigating how the crash happened and who was responsible, on the state prosecutor's orders.

Both vehicles were seized, and the road was closed for several hours.
