UK regulator accepts remedy for Macquarie’s EAG purchase

Macquarie plans to buy Energy Assets Group, which manages 1.8 million advanced and smart meters.

The UK regulator was concerned because both companies operate in parts of the gas-metering market.

Macquarie has proposed selling EAG’s non-domestic, non-smart gas-metering business to an approved buyer.

The regulator says this could address its concerns and avoid a more detailed investigation if the conditions are met.
