Three F1 Drivers Receive Grid Penalties for US Grand Prix

Three drivers will take grid penalties at Formula 1's US Grand Prix in Austin on Sunday.

Audi's Gabriel Bortoleto faces a 20-place penalty, Franco Colapinto of Alpine will lose 10 places, and Arvid Lindblad of Racing Bulls will lose five.

The penalties follow extra power unit components being fitted beyond the season's permitted limits.

Bortoleto exceeded the limit for his energy store and control electronics units, while Colapinto exceeded it for control electronics and Lindblad for internal combustion engines.

Bortoleto is set to start from the back of the grid, while the other two will start further back than their qualifying positions would otherwise allow.

The FIA confirmed the penalties during the opening practice session at the Circuit of the Americas.
