Puigdemont appears at Casa Macià inauguration in Prats de Molló
Carles Puigdemont attended the inauguration of a memorial project at Casa Macià in Prats de Molló, in northern Catalonia.
The project is turning the house where former Catalan president Francesc Macià lived into a space of historical memory.
It opened as the town marked 100 years since the Prats de Molló events, when Macià organised an attempted military incursion into Catalonia from France.
A foundation was created to restore the building, which a private buyer purchased in 2020.
Puigdemont’s appearance came days after a judge closed the case against him, clearing the way for the Supreme Court to apply the amnesty and exempt him from criminal responsibility.
The Supreme Court’s criminal chamber is expected to take that final step, according to the account of the case.
