Tottenham beat Coventry 3-1 for first Premier League win of the season

Tottenham beat Coventry City 3-1 in the Premier League, ending a wait for their first league win of the season.

James Maddison put Spurs ahead in the first half, but Jack Rudoni equalised for Coventry soon after the break.

Omar Marmoush restored Tottenham’s lead in the 59th minute.

Ben Davies scored a third goal in the sixth minute of added time to seal the result.

The win lifted Spurs out of the bottom three and into 16th place in the table.

Maddison was making his first Tottenham start since May 2025, while Dejan Kulusevski returned as a substitute after 526 days out through injury.

Tottenham now have a confidence-boosting win, while Coventry will look to respond after conceding four goals in the final 15 minutes of league matches this season.

It’s gone about as good as it could for De Zerbi. Maddison and Kulusevski back, but most importantly the three points lifting them off the bottom of the table.

Hopefully for Tottenham, this is going to be the start of getting some belief going forward that they can actually win games in the stadium.

A terrific night for Spurs, Maddison making a scoring return, Kulusevski also coming back, and a first league win of the season.
