Madrid court upholds four tax rulings over luxury property deal
Madrid’s High Court rejected four appeals by former Vox spokesman Iván Espinosa de los Monteros, his wife Rocío Monasterio and their companies.
The appeals challenged tax penalties linked to a €169,400 invoice issued by Monasterio’s architecture firm for work on a property deal.
Tax inspectors found that the firm did not provide the advisory work described in the invoice.
Judges said there was no evidence of its involvement and that inconsistencies supported the conclusion that the invoice was false.
The case concerns the 2015–16 sale of a luxury building in central Madrid that belonged to Espinosa de los Monteros’s relatives.
The four rulings are final, as the parties did not appeal within 30 days, but a fifth appeal is still pending and the court says it will be decided soon.
