Fire reported at industrial facility in Russia’s Surgut district after drone attack
A drone attack sparked a fire at an industrial facility in Russia’s Surgut district on Friday, regional governor Ruslan Kukharuk said.
Ukrainian activist Serhii Sternenko and monitoring channels identified the site as the Surgut Condensate Stabilization Plant, but the facility’s identity has not been independently confirmed.
The plant processes gas condensate into petroleum products, including motor and aviation fuel, and is reported to have a designed capacity of 12 million metric tons a year.
The facility is in Khanty-Mansi, a major Russian oil-producing region, more than 2,000 kilometers from Ukraine.
Kyiv has not publicly claimed responsibility for the attack.
The incident comes after Ukraine said it was resuming strikes on Russian energy infrastructure, saying Russia had continued attacks despite a ceasefire declared by U.S. President Donald Trump.
Emergency services are assessing the damage, and officials have not yet said how extensive it is.
