Ankara industry group proposes five support packages for women entrepreneurs
Ankara’s Chamber of Industry has proposed five support packages to help women entrepreneurs grow their businesses.
The proposal comes from a study of women entrepreneurs in Ankara, which found that 70% of those surveyed founded their own businesses.
Although many had university degrees, half of the businesses studied had 10 or fewer employees, and only 29% exported.
The chamber says training and awareness programs alone do not resolve barriers such as access to finance, decision-making power and markets.
Its packages cover childcare and time costs, decision-making and business succession, finance and growth, business networks and access to public opportunities, and women’s representation in chamber bodies.
The report also proposes a real management role test so support reaches women who actually run businesses, rather than relying only on formal ownership records.
The chamber plans to phase this criterion into its support programs, set an implementation schedule and track progress every year with partners including government agencies and universities.
The Ankara Chamber of Industry proposed five practical support packages for women entrepreneurs in a report on barriers to their business growth.
The report says women entrepreneurs’ education and innovative capacity are not translating fully into growth, jobs and exports.
It recommends support for childcare and time constraints, decision-making authority, finance, networks and institutional representation.
The study found that 70% of participating women founded their businesses, while 29% of the businesses surveyed exported.
ASO said it would gradually include a real-management criterion in its support programs and monitor women’s entrepreneurship indicators annually.
