Mexico’s financial intelligence unit signs information-sharing agreement

Mexico’s Financial Intelligence Unit, known as the UIF, signed an information-sharing agreement with UNIFIMEX, a union of Mexican financial institutions.

The agreement is intended to improve cooperation between public authorities and the financial sector.

It will focus on identifying vulnerabilities and reducing financial risks, as well as developing indicators, alerts and analysis tools.

The partners can also produce studies and recommendations, and hold working groups.

They plan to provide training and technical assistance to help identify emerging risks and strengthen prevention of illicit finance.

The agreement aims to support more effective detection and prevention, in line with Mexican law and international standards.
