Jonathan Garson to Succeed Jim Morris as Pixar President

Pixar says Jonathan Garson will become its president on Jan.

4, 2027.

He will succeed Jim Morris, who has been president for 12 of his 21 years at the studio and will become president emeritus.

Garson joined Pixar in 2010 and most recently oversaw its operations; as president, he will lead production and operations.

Morris will step back from day-to-day leadership but remain involved in talent development, mentoring and technology initiatives, and serve as executive producer of Incredibles 3.

Pixar also promoted longtime producer Jonas Rivera to executive vice president of creative, where he will work with Garson and chief creative officer Pete Docter.

The changes reshape leadership at the California animation studio while keeping Docter in charge of its creative direction.

Pixar’s next announced film is Gatto, due in theaters on March 5, 2027; Incredibles 3 is slated for June 2028.
