Busan Gijang film studio begins trial operations ahead of 2027 opening
A new public film studio in Busan’s Gijang County has begun trial operations ahead of its planned official opening in April or May 2027.
The complex was built as a replacement for the Korea Film Council’s former studio in Namyangju, after plans were delayed for years.
It has three indoor studios and four outdoor filming sites, along with facilities to support production.
One indoor studio is planned to have a large LED screen for virtual production, combining filming and visual effects to create scenes such as elaborate action sequences.
Two productions, “Two Pieces” and “The List of the Dead,” will use the site during the trial, with their rental fees fully waived.
Their shoots will also help test the studio’s facilities and equipment before it officially opens.
