Burnley sack Nicky Hayen after 14 games in charge

Burnley have sacked head coach Nicky Hayen after just 14 games in charge.

The decision followed a 4-1 defeat at Lincoln City that left Burnley in the Championship relegation zone.

Hayen, a Belgian coach who won the national title with Club Brugge in 2024, joined Burnley in July to lead a promotion push.

Burnley had been promoted from the Championship in each of their past two seasons, but were relegated from the Premier League last season and have struggled since returning.

Hayen leaves after one league win, a 4-0 victory at Watford on 10 October, and the club have conceded 25 goals in their first 12 Championship games.

Burnley must now find a successor as they try to improve their position; no replacement has been announced.
