Turkey Opens Istanbul Textile Innovation and Design Centre

Turkey has opened a textile and clothing innovation centre in Bağcılar, Istanbul.

The 14,000-square-metre facility brings together the Istanbul Apparel Exporters’ Association’s work in textiles, fashion, training and digitalisation.

It will provide training, design, testing and verification services to businesses.

Industry Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır said investment incentives had enabled 1.7 trillion lira in sector investment over the past 23 years, as well as about one million jobs.

The government has also supported 634 projects with 3.8 billion lira to improve production, efficiency and innovation.

The industry faces pressure to adapt to digital technology and more sustainable production, including new European Union rules for textiles and clothing.

Officials are assessing 27 investment applications for creative industries in five Turkish provinces, submitted under the 2026 programme.
