Man in prison confesses to killing Mehmet Çabuk in 2016

Mehmet Çabuk disappeared in Osmaniye in 2016, aged 27 and the father of a child.

His sister, Aynur, recently sought help finding out what happened to him through a Turkish television programme.

Prisoner İbrahim Düzgün confessed to killing Çabuk and said he struck him with a hard object after an argument, then buried him in a garden.

Düzgün said he had brought Çabuk from Ankara to Osmaniye.

Authorities began digging at the suspected burial site to look for Çabuk's remains.

Çabuk's former wife and her mother-in-law were detained after statements on the programme prompted action by the Osmaniye chief prosecutor's office.

The search for remains is continuing, and the sources do not report a final finding.
