Turkey plans 43.4% increase in 2027 livestock support

Turkey plans to raise livestock support to 52.5 billion lira in 2027, a 43.4% increase on the amount expected for 2026.

The planned increase is part of a wider rise in agricultural funding, with the total support budget expected to reach 235 billion lira, up from an estimated 167.6 billion in 2026.

The funding is intended to improve livestock production, efficiency and product quality in the country’s farming sector.

Updated rules provide extra support for some young animals born through specified breeding methods, as well as for certain sheep, goats and dairy milk sales.

Other planned work includes improving pastures and expanding veterinary vaccine production, including at a facility being developed in Ankara.

Farmers affected by a 2025 frost received about 47 billion lira through insurance payments and direct support, while the state’s premium contribution for crop insurance against frost rose to 70% in 2026.

The 2027 funding remains a plan, and the government also plans to continue work on animal health, pasture improvement and agricultural risk protection.
