Milan and Inter set to unveil plans for new 71,500-seat stadium

Milan and Inter will unveil plans for a new stadium at Castello Sforzesco in Milan on 29 October.

The venue is designed by architecture firms Foster + Partners and MANICA, and is intended to take the place of the clubs’ current San Siro stadium.

The planned stadium will hold 71,500 people, compared with more than 75,500 at San Siro now.

Its design includes two seating tiers, steeply angled end stands and an outer facade with lights in the colours of whichever club is playing.

The wider project includes new commercial spaces and is expected to cost more than 2.3 billion euros, with about 708 million euros for the stadium itself.

Construction is expected to begin in mid-2027, and the new venue is due to be ready by 2031, ahead of the 2032 European Championship.

The stadium’s final name has not been chosen; it will depend on a commercial sponsorship deal.
