Haitai launches Calbee’s Jagarico potato sticks in South Korea

Haitai has launched Jagarico in South Korea for the first time, bringing the Japanese potato-stick snack to local stores.

The launch is the Salad flavor, made with potato, carrot and parsley to evoke the taste of potato salad.

Jagarico first went on sale in Japan in 1995 and is described as the country’s leading potato-stick snack.

The product is now sold nationwide at large supermarkets and convenience stores, alongside Haitai’s Jagi potato sticks.

Haitai is expanding its potato-stick range as South Korea’s potato-stick market grew by more than 29% last year.

Haitai and Calbee have worked together since forming a joint venture in 2011, which has produced Jagi in South Korea since 2012.

A launch event is planned for Seoul on October 24, with a street parade and a social media prize draw.
