Beijing District Prosecutors Set Up Joint Intellectual Property Protection

Beijing District Prosecutors Set Up Joint Intellectual Property Protection

On November 3, prosecutors in Beijing’s Dongcheng and Xicheng districts agreed to work together on intellectual property protection along the Central Axis.

They signed the mechanism at a public event in Beijing called “Central Axis: Protecting Heritage and Innovation.”

The districts say they will share information and case leads, help each other with investigations, and share resources.

Their work will focus on old established brands, intangible cultural heritage and artificial intelligence, among other areas.

The districts have handled cases involving trademark infringement, copyright violations, trade secrets and counterfeit goods.

The joint approach is intended to protect cultural heritage and support innovation by tackling infringement across district boundaries.

The mechanism sets out ways for the two prosecutors’ offices to coordinate, but no further steps or timetable were announced.
