Nationwide launches online support tool for domestic abuse survivors

Nationwide Building Society has launched an online safe space for people experiencing domestic abuse.

A link at the bottom of its website opens support information, emergency contacts and other resources.

The tool is designed not to leave a browsing history and includes a quick exit function.

Nationwide already has safe spaces in more than 430 of its branches and more than 40 Virgin Money branches, and says these are open to people who are not customers too.

Domestic abuse can include economic abuse, in which someone controls or sabotages another person’s access to money, work or financial resources.

The new tool is intended to give people another discreet way to find help when seeking support may feel difficult.

Nationwide also offers a specialist support team and referrals to charities, but no further steps or timeline for the online service were given.
