Dead Man’s Bones Release First New Song in 17 Years

Ryan Gosling and Zach Shields have released “Lost in the Night,” the first new song from their band Dead Man’s Bones in 17 years.

The duo’s self-titled debut album came out in 2009 and featured backing vocals from the Silverlake Conservatory Children’s Choir.

They tried recording new music in Los Angeles studios, then recorded the song in a day at a farm outside the city with guitars, drum machines and synthesizers.

The song has an atmospheric rock sound, and its black-and-white video follows actors Noah Jupe and Rain Spencer through a nighttime story that begins in a cemetery.

The release marks a return for a band that had largely stepped out of public view after its debut.

It is not yet clear whether the song will lead to a larger project or stand alone.
