Houthi media says Saudi strikes killed at least nine in northern Yemen

Houthi media said a Saudi strike killed at least nine people and wounded 16 in Saada, in northern Yemen, on Sunday.

It said the toll was not final and that most of those hurt or killed were women and children.

The reports also described 12 deaths in strikes on Saturday in Taiz and Dhamar, including three children; these were separate incidents from the Saada strike.

The Saudi-led coalition is fighting the Houthis in support of Yemen’s internationally recognised government.

Yemen’s civil war reignited in July after years of relative calm, and fighting intensified after the Houthis seized the Red Sea coast in September.

The Houthis have also attacked Saudi targets, including vessels, oil facilities and Riyadh’s airport.

The reported deaths add to the civilian toll as the conflict escalates, but the accounts provide no independent confirmation of the casualty figures or details of what happens next.
