Akhilesh Yadav challenges Yogi Adityanath to contest from Ayodhya

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav challenged Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to contest from Ayodhya in the next state Assembly election.

Yadav made the challenge while visiting Ayodhya, where his party won the Faizabad parliamentary seat in 2024 by more than 54,000 votes.

He accused the BJP government of carrying out demolitions in the name of development and said an SP government would pursue growth without displacing residents.

Yadav also promised women ₹40,000 a year if the SP wins power.

The BJP dismissed his challenge, said voters had been misled by the opposition in 2024, and predicted it would win more than 300 seats in the next Uttar Pradesh election.

The election will give voters a chance to decide between the parties’ competing claims and promises.
