Alexander Nikishin signs one-year, $3 million deal with Hurricanes

The Carolina Hurricanes signed Alexander Nikishin to a one-year, $3 million deal, ending a stalemate over his contract.

Nikishin is a 25-year-old Russian defenseman returning to the NHL club.

He was named to the NHL All-Rookie Team in 2025-26 after recording 11 goals and 33 points.

He helped Carolina win the Stanley Cup, appearing in 17 playoff games and earning one assist.

His new contract gives him a place with the Hurricanes for one season.
