Al-Ittihad turned down a 5 million riyal deal for Hamam Al-Hamami

Al-Ittihad declined to pay 5 million riyals to keep Hamam Al-Hamami, who now plays for Al-Shabab in Saudi Arabia.

Commentator Abdullah Fallatah says the club later signed Roger Fernandes for 32 million euros, a far larger amount.

Al-Hamami has since won the Gulf Cup with Saudi Arabia and was named the tournament’s best player.

Accounts differ on whether he had asked Al-Ittihad for guaranteed playing time before leaving.

His contract talks with Al-Shabab have stalled, and he can sign with another club from January 2027 under the terms described.

Several clubs are reported to be interested, but his future has not been decided.
