Bucks waive Kevin Porter Jr. before season opener

The Milwaukee Bucks waived guard Kevin Porter Jr. on Monday, before the NBA roster deadline.

Porter led the Bucks in assists per game and ranked second in scoring during the 2025-26 season.

Injuries limited him to 38 games, but he averaged 17.4 points, 7.4 assists, 5.2 rebounds and 2.2 steals when he played.

Milwaukee had a surplus of guards as it reshapes its roster for its first season without Giannis Antetokounmpo, who was traded to Miami in the offseason.

The move could give more playing time to younger guards, including rookie Brayden Burries and Kasparas Jakučionis.

The Bucks begin their season Wednesday at Washington, with returning guard Ryan Rollins and 2025 All-Star Tyler Herro also in the backcourt mix.
