Oregon loses to Illinois 21-10, putting playoff hopes in doubt

Oregon lost 21-10 at Illinois, its first loss to the team in 56 years.

The defeat left the Ducks at 4-3 and likely out of playoff contention this season.

Oregon has struggled since quarterback Dante Moore suffered a concussion, and he missed his third straight game on Saturday.

With Dylan Raiola at quarterback, the Ducks scored no points in the second half, despite gaining more yards than Illinois.

Head coach Dan Lanning’s contract runs through 2030, and a December 2025 estimate put his buyout at $56.7 million.

After the loss, Lanning said the team would assess its performance and that all options were on the table.

Moore has returned to practice and resumed throwing, and his possible return could shape Oregon’s remaining season, including whether the team focuses on bowl contention.
