Gully Powar wins British featherweight title after fight with Zak Miller is stopped

Zak Miller and Gully Powar fought for the vacant British featherweight title in Manchester, on the undercard of Joshua Buatsi versus Willy Hutchinson.

An accidental clash of heads in the seventh round injured Miller, leaving him with cuts and severe swelling around his face.

A doctor examined Miller in the ninth round and allowed the fight to continue.

Referee Mark Lyson stopped the bout after 10 rounds as Miller's swelling worsened.

The judges awarded Powar the win on points, giving the 24-year-old the title.

The injuries drew concern from fans, who questioned why Miller's corner had not stopped the fight sooner.

Zak Miller needs to change his corner, the fact that the ref stopped it, as opposed to his corner doing so is ridiculous. I reckon they waiting on his cheeks and chin to be ballooned shaped before pulling him out. Shocking work.

Was a nasty look for Zak miller! Hope his corner's decision to not throw towel in doesn’t come back to haunt them! Speedy recovery Zak.
