Turkey cuts patent fees for first-time SME applicants and some AI filings

Turkey’s industry and technology minister announced new patent fee discounts for small and medium-sized businesses and some artificial intelligence filings.

SMEs making their first patent application will pay 75% less for application, search and examination report fees.

Certain AI patent applications will get a 50% discount on the fee for an urgent search report.

The AI discount applies to applications in the G06N patent classification.

The changes were made to Turkey’s 2026 patent fee schedule, which is administered by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office.

The discounts are intended to encourage patenting by SMEs and people developing AI innovations in Turkey.

The new rules have taken effect after a change to the regulation was published in the Official Gazette.
